Skiing,All great winter sports in Maine, but mere mortals can't do them 24 hours a day. So if you need a break from some of the more strenuous winter sports -- or if you just want to enjoy some winter scenery while relaxing--a sleigh ride is the perfect solution.
A Sleigh Ride is relaxing. Your ears are treated to the jingling
of sleigh bells; your eyes are treated to scenes of white winter
enchantment, and your lungs are treated to crisp country air. When
you crawl into bed afterwards, you'll find that relaxing combination
is about the best sleeping remedy on the market; you'll drift off to
slumberland with the sounds of jingle bells still floating around
you.
The most basic rule is: It’s winter and you’ll be outside, so dress to stay warm on your sleigh ride. If you have ski clothes wear them. Remember, since you won’t be exerting yourself physically, you’ll get cold faster (especially your feet). So a few tips: wear a warm jacket, snow pants, face protector, hat, mittens and don't forget about your feet. Insulated boots are the best with warm socks. We do provide lap blankets but you are very welcome to bring extras.

I’ll carton some up today” Bill pipes in, “I must have three dozen or so washed and dried.” He tells Darcy that he had checked the email and a couple from Tennessee had asked about booking a sleigh ride for a romantic Valentine’s Day in February. His eyes twinkle and he gives her a kiss. “I opened the new Draft Horse Calendar that you bought last month and we already have seven rides booked!” “I can hardly believe it” he exclaims. “I want to get to work on the sleds, there’s fence to mend, manure to spread, and I’d like to hitch the horses and harrow the garden. But, first things first, I think I need to make hay while the sun shines.” Discussion moves to dinner plans and they decide to make some phone calls and have the adult children over. That means taking meat out of the freezer and picking berries for strawberry short cake. They begin to silently ponder their day. Like the pull of the ocean tide, Bill and Darcy are drawn to the barn for chores. Their morning meeting is adjourned. Read More
"This simple, old-fashioned sleigh ride was providing an opportunity to experience so much - to view nature up close and personal, to make world slow down, to feel connected with friends and family in a special environment, to create fond memories, and to experience an activity from days gone by. Glenn group from Boston"
Couple above is from Tennessee. The gentleman called and wanted to plan a special time to ask his girlfriend for her hand in marriage. We got a bottle of champagne for him and brought them down in the woods to the bonfire spot, walked down the trail a little to give them privacy. She said yes and she didn't know a thing. What a special couple.

Since you seem so nice and friendly, I'll tell you a little story.... We are newlyweds, just married on Dec. 14th. As we were getting to know each other, we sent each other a list of the 10 things we wanted to do before we died. One of the things I had on my list was..."I want to ride in a horse-drawn open sleigh through the woods with a blanket on my lap and jingle bells singing in my ear." I love...and I mean LOVE snow ! Of course, down in good ol' 'Bama, we don't see much of the white stuff. Well, a few weeks ago, I had been out at the mall and when I came home, my husband, Cal, handed me a poem he had written for me. It began like this :
Roses are red.
Violets are blue.
I'm gonna ride on a sleigh
with you.
Then he handed me papers showing that while I was gone he had made all the hotel, flight and rental car arrangements for our week-long vacation to New England !! Sweet, sweet man who loves me so. We cannot wait to get there ! Warmest Regards...
